It was an exciting day at the Perla Resort for Day 1 A of the ReMida Poker Team. The discounted buy-in, from €250 compared to the expected €350, attracted 207 entries (including re-buy-ins), making it possible to set aside around one-fifth of the expected €200,000 prize pool.
Not bad to say that it was the first day of play, notoriously the one with the lowest attendance compared to the other four Day 1s scheduled within the kermesse. Alessio Liscia, who managed to put the right amount of pressure on his opponents on several occasions by accumulating a 702,000-chip three-way stack, was the one who played the bad guy:
"Did I play bad? But no, it was actually a tournament in which I won a lot of small pots, and the only giant pot I took home in bluff!"
For those who missed the spot, here's how Liscia laid the groundwork for provisional first place:
"MP limps for 4K, I limp as well from the BTN with 6-7s, BB (Gabriel Pop Cornel, ed.) makes 24K, the limper calls and I call. Flop A-9-4 rainbow. Original Raiser makes 25K, limper calls and I call too. Turn Ace of Diamonds opening flush draw, bet 45K, new call and I raise to 115K. The OR call while the limper folds. River 6, which doesn't turn any flush draw OR checks, I go all-in and he folds."
A move worth almost 100 big blinds, as the pot was well over 300,000 chips with 2000/4000 blinds.
The Complete Top 10
In the second position, some 150,000 chips behind, is Flavio Serrapica (550,000), closely followed by Christian Andreas Gabriel (536,000).
Fourth and fifth places go to Alessandro Campedelli (502,000) and Andrea Spinosa (494,000).
They are followed by Davide Ceglia (461,000), Domenico Cuzzucoli (423,000), Andrea Darduin (423,000), Antonio Pugliese (421,000), and Francesco Marotta (404,000).
The unfailing Davide Cojaniz (25th with 174,000), Alessio Urpis from Cagliari (28th with 169,000) and Davide "Contebillo" Goffredo (32nd with 157,000) also qualified for Day 2.
